I went to the thrift store yesterday and really lucked out. The ripple baby blanket looks brand new, never used. It measures 31" x 51" - and can you believe I only paid $5.90 for it? Such a good deal. I also bought the thread table runner for $1.90 - I put that in my dining room, but I'm thinking of tea dyeing it because the white is just a little too bright. The balloon cotton fabric measures 1 yd. and I also paid $1.90 for that - and lastly, 3yds. of a baby cotton flannel for only $2.90.
Needless to say, I walked out of that store feeling very happy. :)

Wow, I would have been happy too! Great deals. That ripple blanket is awesome and you're right, it looks like it was never used.
ReplyDelete....yes, I imagine it!! Lucky girl!!

Lovely finds! Blanket does look georgeous and I m in love with the balloon fabric :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Score! can try the crochet around the edge with the flannel.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick-ups Debi. That baby blanket is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow..I am so glad you picked them up especially the blanket and the crochet runner. I know you can appreciate all the work and time that went into creating them. I often wonder about the thoughts of the person making the items..like were they thinking of the one they were creating it for..so much love and time..Great pick up.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Carol and I love going to a flea market near us on Thursdays. I am waiting for a bright sunny day to photograph my latest finds (or should I say a bright, sunny day when I have remembered to charge the camera batteries). Whenever I find a beautiful piece of handwork at the flea market I can't help but wonder about who took the time and love to make it. Who did they make it for? A gift, or to beatify their own home? And how did it end up in the flea market?

PS - Carol starts Grand Jury duty tomorrow. Every Thursday (noo! not flea market day!) for weeks and weeks :(
WooHoo! Great finds! How could anyone get rid of a gift such as this beautiful baby blanket?
ReplyDeleteI to love thrift stores. I go to find one thing in mind and always walk out with so much more! You sure did find some great things!

Oh my Debi, that is definitely a thrift SCORE! :D So jealous of you, I never find gorgeous afghans like that!
ReplyDeletexo,
wink
That runner looks like the 'Square A Day' tablecloth pattern. Probably sewed a row together then decided not to make any more. I've had this in my WIP for several years and need to make a few more and get it done!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome finds! I would also tea dye the runner! It is so much fun going to thrift stores!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all your fantastic finds, Debi! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you hit the jackpot! The baby blanket is pretty and looks well done. Great runner too, you'll have to post pics on how it turns out if you do tea stain it. I wonder what color the pink will show up as if you do that? Enjoy your day Debi, Heather
ReplyDeletewow! I need to go shopping with you. I'm never that lucky at the thrift stores.
ReplyDeleteI guess so!! Love finds like that.

ReplyDeleteExcellent finds! I'm always a bit saddened when I see handmade items going so cheap in charity shops. All that love, effort and work.... still somebody like you will appreciate them :)
ReplyDeleteWow, great finds. What a lovely blanket! And the fabrics are lovely, too. I wish we had such stores in India.
ReplyDeleteLove.
